Mixteco Kid Selected for Oaxaca Film Fest 2019
Mixteco Kid short film and feature film script were selected to the prestigious Oaxaca Film Festival on October 4-11, 2019. Over 5,000 films and scripts were submitted to the festival and less than 5% were selected. The film is about a Mixteco boy who dreams to be like his fútbol hero, Chicharito, and overcomes the forces of prejudice and poverty to become a soccer sensation and heal a divided community. Legendary Mexican actor Fernando Allende and his son Adán Allende star in the film shot in Oxnard, California.
Writer, Director and Producer: Miguel Orozco
After writing and producing the award-winning film, God Speaks Spanish (Chicago Latino & NY Latino Film Festivals), Miguel co-founded Novelas Educativas, an educational film production company. In 2018, Miguel directed and produced the award-winning documentary, American Migrant Stories. In 2016, Miguel founded ÁNIMO Film + Theatre to produce films and plays to increase cultural awareness of diverse communities. Miguel started his career in Washington, DC as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Intern and continued to work on the Hill as a U.S. Senate staffer. Miguel obtained a Master's degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh and an MFA in screenwriting from Mount Saint Mary's University.
